This is a paperback facsimile copy of the original book published in 1900 by the Little Gem Brand Book Co. out of Kansas City. 194 pages in black and white, 6” x 9”. Republished here by Exile Books LLC. Includes index of brands and numerous cattle illustrations, also packed with advertisements. Unlike other brand books of the time, the Little Gem was "controlled by no Association or State," making it a private commercial venture that competed with the association-published brand books. The book gathered brands new in 1899 for the fall work of 1900 and was notable for its detailed illustrations showing ear marks directly on cattle illustrations, providing a more comprehensive visual reference for identifying livestock across the northern plains region.
